Robbie Murden
Hockey Director
Robbie Murden joined Team Maryland in 2023 as Hockey Director and also serves as Assistant General Manager for Black Bear Junior Hockey, with a particular focus on the Youngstown Phantoms (USHL) as their Assistant General Manager. Previously, Coach Murden worked for the Windy City Storm (Chicago), where he coached and served as Director of Player Personnel for nationally ranked Midget teams. He also held roles in player personnel, scouting, and drafting for the Tri-City Storm (USHL). Prior to Windy City, Robbie was one of the founders, coaches and Directors of Player Personnel for Bishop Kearney Selects, as well as Midget coach at Selects Hockey Academy where he won the 2018-2019 National Championship with his U18 team. Over the past 5 seasons, Robbie has coached teams to seven state and regional titles and has sent multiple teams to the National Tournament including the 14U BK Selects, a first year program, (Head Coach, National Championship Finalist 2020-2021). A Canadian native, Robbie played Division III hockey for Hamilton College where he led his team as the Alternate Captain to the program's first and only NCAA Tournament appearance in over 100 years. Over the past 5 seasons in AAA, Robbie has recruited, coached, and fostered the development of 8 NHL Draft Picks, 50+ NCAA D1 commits, 55+ USHL/NTDP selections, and 10+ players who have gone on to play in the OHL, WHL or QMJHL.

Associate Hockey Director
Team Maryland is delighted to announce that Pete Leboutillier has been promoted to Associate Hockey Director for the 2026-2027 season. He will work directly with Hockey Director Robbie Murden to further accelerate the program as a leader in player development and player outcomes both regionally and nationally. Pete will continue to serve as the 18U Head Coach for his 7th consecutive season while joining the U16 staff as Associate Head Coach.

Matt Bertani
Bantam Hockey Director
Matt Bertani, Matt has a decorated background at every level on the hockey pyramid. As assistant coach at Penn State University from 2005 – 2008, Matt reached the NCAA finals twice. He also achieved the highest points total in Johnstown Chiefs (ECHL) history while serving as an assistant coach. During the 2008-09 season, he joined the New York Islanders (NHL) organization as an assistant coach for their American Hockey League affiliate, the Bridgeport Sound Tigers. During his time as assistant coach of the Sound Tigers, he coached the team to a Divisional Semifinal in 2008-09, and a Conference Quarterfinal in 2009-10 and 2011-12. After establishing himself as an assistant coach in professional hockey, Matt was promoted to the NHL as video and assistant coach for the New York Islanders in 2012. He spent six years in the role helping lead the Islanders to a Conference Quarterfinal in both 2012-13 and 2014-15, as well as a Conference Semifinal in 2015-16.Matt has learned from the likes of Doug Weight, Jack Capuano, and many more of the best hockey minds in the world. After his time in the New York Islander organization, Matt gained international experience by taking over the role of assistant coach for the South Korean U18, U20 and National Team from 2018-2020. He led the U20 team to a gold medal and promotion to Division 1A. Matt is the Assistant Director of OverSpeed Hockey in Rhode Island and specializes in skating and development and helps lead the Hockey Coaches Corner.

Austin Luboff
Director of Player Personnel
Austin joins Team Maryland from the Florida Alliance midget program. Austin has also been a scout for the Mississauga Steelheads of the Ontario Hockey League for the past 5 years and will remain a Steelheads scout while at Team Maryland providing further opportunities for advancement for the players.
